Kimusubi Aikido
central florida aikido school since 2004
A disciplined path to composure, strength, and self-mastery.
Traditional Aikido practice for adults seeking a physically real, non-competitive path — one that holds up over a lifetime.
Not competition. Not sport. Not a gym.
Observe first. Ask questions. Decide later.
Who THIS practice is for
Kimusubi Aikido is a traditional Aikido dojo primarily serving adults* who want a physically real, non-competitive practice rooted in discipline, respect, and long-term development.
Practice is active and physical. Students learn how to roll, fall safely, move on the floor, and work with partners at a pace appropriate to experience and ability. No prior martial arts experience is required.
If you are able to attend a gym, run, lift weights, or do floor-based movement, you are capable of practicing Aikido with us.
Attendance naturally varies for adults balancing work, travel, and family life. What remains consistent is the focus of practice: attentive movement, personal instruction, and steady development over time.
As with any embodied practice, the more consistently one practices, the more quickly understanding develops and the more the practice gives back over time.
* In some cases, older teenagers who demonstrate maturity and readiness may be invited to practice.
A Living Tradition
Our dojo maintains long-standing relationships with senior teachers and is formally affiliated with the Aikido World Headquarters through the Aikido Isshinkai Association.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Our practice schedule supports consistent, focused keiko throughout the week. Classes are structured to allow steady development, repetition, and recovery over time.
- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
- 6:30pm - 7:15pm Foundational Practice
- 7:15pm - 8:30pm Open Practice
Our classes provide an active, collaborative, and safe environment to learn Aikido’s techniques and principles. There are no competitions, no contests of strength—just a shared journey of growth and discovery.
New members start with the first 45 minutes of class, focusing on fundamental skills like ukemi (falling safely) and the basics of Aikido. This foundation prepares you for the deeper exploration of advanced concepts and practical applications of the art.
